Which information do we receive about you?
We receive different types of information about you, such as information you are required to provide when signing up for Remembr. and information you choose to share on Remembr.
- Registration information
When you sign up for Remembr. you are required to provide information such as your name, e-mail address and password. In your personal account you choose whether you save more information about yourself such as a profile picture, gender, birthday and location. Remembr. will never sell or distribute personally identifying information.
- Information you choose to share
Your information also includes the information you choose to share on Remembr. such as when you create a memorial page or when you post a condolence or memory and upload in image or video or when you comment on a post of someone else.
- Information others share about you
We receive information about you from your family, friends and others, such as when they send you an invitation or message or when they upload an image or video of you.
- Other information we receive about you

We receive data about you whenever you use or run Remembr. such as when you look at someone’s memorial page, send or receive a message, search for a page, click on, view or otherwise interact with things.

We receive data from or about the computer, mobile phone, or other devices you use to visit Remembr. This may include network and communication information, such as your IP address and other information such as internet service, operating system, location, the type of the device or browser you use, the pages you visit.

We receive data of your Facebook and Twitter account when you use these to register or log in.

Sometimes we get data from our affiliates or advertising partners, customers and other third parties that help sus (or them) deliver ads, understand online activity, and generally make Remembr. better. For example, an advertiser may tell us information about you (like how you responded to an ad on Remembr. or another site) in order to measure the effectiveness of – and improve the quality of – ads.
Special and / or sensitive personal data that we process
Our website and / or service does not intend to collect data about website visitors who are younger than 16 years. Unless they have permission from parents or guardians. However, we can not check if a visitor is older than 16. We encourage parents to be involved in the online activities of their children, in order to prevent data about children being collected without parental consent. If you are convinced that we have collected personal information about a minor without this consent, please contact us via info@remembr.com and we will delete this information.
Which information is public?
With public information we mean the information you choose to make public, as well as information that is publicly available. Public information is visible for everyone, including people that do not have an account at Remembr. This information can also be viewed when someone does a search on Remembr. or on a public search engine.
Information that is always publicly available:

Your name. This helps your family and friends to see who is posting messages. If you are uncomfortable sharing your real name, you can always change it to a nick name.

Your profile picture. This helps your family and friends recognize you. If you are uncomfortable making this public you can change it.

Your public memorial pages. Everyone can view the profile picture, description, shared condolences, memories (including images and videos) and comments on a public memorial page. If you are uncomfortable making this public you can change the privacy setting to “private”. Only invited people have access to memorial pages.

Name and picture of your private memorial pages. If you have set the privacy setting of the memorial page at “private”, the name and profile picture of the memorial page will still be shown in the search results, This will help family and friends to find the page and ask you for permission to access it.

Your condolences, memories and comments on public memorial pages are visible for everyone. If you post these on a private memorial page, they are visible for invitees only.
How do we use the information we receive?
We use the information we receive about you in connection with the services and features we provide to you and other users like friends and our partners, the advertisers that purchase ads on the site.
People cannot only see what you share, we may also use the information we receive about you:

as part of our efforts to keep Remembr. products and services safe and secure;

to protect Remembr.’s or others’ rights or property;

to measure or understand the effectiveness of ads you and others see, including to deliver relevant ads to you;

to notify others’ that you posted messages at memorial pages they own;

Granting us permission to use your information not only allows us to provide Remembr. as it exists today, but it also allows us to provide you with innovative features and services we develop in the future that use the information we receive about you in new ways.
We store data for as long as it is necessary to provide products and services to you and others.
How do we share the information we receive?
While you are allowing us to use the information we receive about you, you always own all of your information. Your trust is important to us, which is why we do not share information we receive about you with others unless we:

Remembr. does not take decisions based on automated processing on matters that can have (significant) consequences for people. These are decisions taken by computer programs or systems, without a person (for example a Remembr. Employee) sitting between them.
How long we store personal data
Remembr. does not store your personal data longer than is strictly necessary to realise the purposes for which your data is collected. When you delete messages you have posted, created memorial pages or your account, it is permanently deleted by Remembr, we do not use a retention period.
Cookies, pixels and other similar technologies
What are cookies and pixels?
Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored on your computer, mobile phone or other device. These files are used when you come back to the website, they remember you and your previous activity to help pages to load faster and deliver you personalised content.
Pixels are small blocks of code on webpages that do things like allow another server to measure viewing of a webpage and often are used in connection with cookies.
We use technologies like cookies, pixels and local storage (like on your browser or device, which is similar to a cookie but holds more information) to provide and understand a range of products and services.
Where do we use cookies, pixels etc. for?

A cookie helps to save time. Cookies are used to store your preferences for a service or webpage. Cookies help you log in by pre-filling your log in details. Cookies also remember the entry of your page in concept, so you will not loose any details when you decide not to complete the page setup at once.

We also use Google Analytics to improve usability in the longer term. The cookies placed for Google Analytics do not store personal data of visitors. The last octect of the IP address is masked. The features to share data with Google have been turned off. A processor agreement has been concluded with Google.

You also have the right to withdraw your consent to the data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by Remembr. and you have the right to data portability. This means that you can submit a request to us to send the personal information we hold to you or another organization mentioned by you in a computer file. You can send a request for access, correction, deletion, data transfer of your personal data or request for cancellation of your consent or objection to the processing of your personal data to info@remembr.com. To make sure that the request for access has been made by you, we ask you to send a copy of your proof of identity with the request. Make your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and social security number black in this copy. This is to protect your privacy. We respond as quickly as possible, but within four weeks, at your request.
How we protect personal data
Remembr. takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorised modification. If you have the impression that your data is not properly secured or there are indications of abuse, please contact us at info@remembr.com.
Changes of the privacy and cookie policy
We may change this privacy and cookie policy at any time. If the changes are material, we will provide you additional, prominent notice as appropriate under circumstances. For minor changes, we recommend you to check this page regularly
