Dear Cath, Poppy, and Fynn, I wanted to express how shocked and deeply sorry I am to hear of Dave’s passing. He was truly one of my all-time favorite human beings, and I loved working with him.
I remember the first time I met him: he was wearing his 'Public Enemy' t-shirt and flip-flops. When I asked about the flip-flops, he said, “Everywhere I go, it sounds like I'm getting a round of applause!” That was Dave—witty, warm, and unforgettable.
He was both a scholar and a gentleman who made time for everyone. It's rare to find someone with his intellect who was also so charming, caring, and supportive of those around him. I feel privileged to have known him and am desperately sad he is no longer with us.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
