I met Dave in 2013 in Budapest at the Drug Policy and Human Rights course at Central European University. He was one of the great instructors who would go on to be an influence to me in my own drug policy journey. Over the years, our paths crossed often, at CND or other places where drug policy nerds congregate. Dave was not only brilliant, but had an amazing sense of humour and ease explaining ideas and sometimes arguing his point in a heated debate.
