What a tragic loss. I met Dave many years ago at a conference and we became fast friends. I so admired his scholarship and his many contributions to the field of drug policy, but I will miss his friendship the most. When I got bladder cancer, Dave was a kind and gracious mentor to me. I had the privilege of meeting Cath, Poppy, and Fynn only once at their lovely home in Wales, but it still occupies a warm spot in my heart. Dave was mensch all the way down. The world is less for his passing but greater for the too brief time we had with him.
