Marilyn was a truly wonderful person, a fabulous scholar, a valued teacher, a caring and generous colleague, and a blast to work with. She hired me to direct the Archives Program at NYU, and I could not have asked for a more supportive department chair who provided useful direction yet gave me all the freedom that I needed. Her sense of humor, social commitments, and intelligence will be sorely missed. I will never forget her.
