Dear Colleagues of Franz Trautmann:
We are shocked and saddened by the news of Franz’ passing received yesterday after my email to him was returned with your note.
My wife Patricia and I call Amsterdam our second home and have traveled to the Netherlands at least twice a year for the past twenty years.
We met Franz in Chicago in 2012 when he was one of the keynote speakers at a seminar we sponsored on “Rethinking the War on Drugs” in America. It was easy to befriend Franz as we had common interests and much to talk about. We hit it off right away and made a date to see him in AMS in the Summer of 2012, and were fortunate to be able to spend time with him twice per year ever since. We truly considered him a friend.
We learned about the loss of his spouse, his relationship with his son, and his caring for his father.
Is it possible for you to send us the email address for his son, and his girlfriend Lidia, Lydia (sp?) We were never able to coordinate a meal with Lidia, but heard much about her. We would like to write to them directly. Can you help us with email addresses?
The loss of Franz is a loss for mankind as he made a positive impact on the world and left it a better place-but he left it too soon.
