"When remembering Owe, I think of someone who has played a crucial role in my past more than two decades. It is a privilege that I could work with him. It was a unique experience to feel directly his outstanding insight and inspiration. I was impressed by his exceptionally wide knowledge in so many areas and their connections. There have been long-term chains in our research that were started by a comment by him, given almost as an incidental one.
It also made a great impact on me to meet the scientific community around Owe, and furthermore, to see his devotion to strengthen these relations. His kindness and friendly attitude also determined the everydays of our meetings. I will never forget his hospitality during my visits. Many of us also remember his kind offers to take groups of visitors for excursions in his minivan.
Owe was well-known to care for a special emphasis on relations with East European colleagues. From Hungary I should mention, among others, Ilona Arany, István Faragó, Lajos László. Lajos had called my attention first to Owe's works. István and I recall in particular the generous act by Owe to write a foreword to our book, his recommendation gave us a reinforcing impulse.
All of us preserve the memory of Owe."
