My deepest condolences to Elinor and all the family. This is very sad news. Although it is now 45 years since I was at ICCET (Pollution 1979-80), Nigel had kept in touch throughout. One abiding memory is him visiting me during my MSc dissertation fieldwork in Wensleydale and sharing the cottage I was lodged in to provide encouragement and support (and to visit the local hostelries). He had always shown interest in my varied career and wrote a lovely reference for me to join a Masters course in Heritage Studies as a mature student. I was particularly pleased to have attended his retirement in 2019 (in what had been the former Libyan Consulate back in No 48 days!). Truly the end of an era. Fond memories of a lovely person.
