I have the fondest of memories of being supervised by, and working with, Nigel during the course of my PhD studies (1990 - 1996) and some freelance consultancy work. He was a million miles away from the stuffy academic and full of character and stories that covered all sorts of experiences. So personable in nature and so academically accomplished in his field. I remember working on some private consultancy work, which ultimately took us into the High Court on a litigation case. His support and thoughts throughout the process were invaluable to a "newbie" like myself entering into the world of environment, legislation and litigation. He will always be in my thoughts for his passionate support. My deepest condolences to all his family, friends and fellow alumni.
