Born January 4th, 1946 in Portland Oregon to Mamie Cogger and LeRoy Peterson.
In his early years, Glenn would ride his bike to the West Salem Library where he claims to have read the entire inventory of books in their collection. He continued to be an avid reader his entire life.
After graduating from South Salem High School in 1964, he attended Western Oregon. In 1965 he began working at the Oregon State Hospital. His career was interrupted in 1966, where he joined the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. After serving with the Navy, he continued his work at the Oregon State Hospital. His career spanned 38 years culminating in his retirement in 2003 as the Assistant Superintendent at the hospital.
Glenn enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his many friends especially Marlin who preceded him in death in 2015. He was also a devoted father to Michael and Stuart Peterson and their families. When the boys were young, he coached their little league teams and was involved in his son’s scouting activities. In addition, Glenn could always be found in the stands during his boy's athletic events. Glenn served as an umpire for local little leagues.
But most of all people remember him for his friendly nature and his warm smile that put others at ease.
Glenn was preceded in death by his mother Mamie, father LeRoy, stepfather Albert Lewis, brother Roger, and longtime friend Marlin.
He is survived by his son Michael and daughter-in-law Shannon Peterson, granddaughters Kassandra and Annabelle; and his son Stuart and daughter-in-law Nonglak Peterson, grandsons Jah and Emjaroen; his sister Janet, brother Richard and, many nieces and nephews and so many very close friends.
