My heartfelt condolences to John’s family and friends. John was my thesis supervisor in 2021. I felt so lucky and privileged the day he accepted to be my supervisor – and will always feel that way. Quite simply, the thesis project is what made the whole MSc experience special to me, and that was purely thanks to John. I was and will remain forever grateful for all the time he gave to me, the wisdom he imparted, the confidence he instilled, and the incredible way he guided me so effortlessly and patiently to help discover my own intellectual abilities (and all about mosquitoes!). It is also amazing (and not at all surprising) to hear of all the ways he has helped so many people throughout his life and across the world.
