Jewell was born on July 13, 1920, in Wilsall, Montana, to Louis Leon Parrent and Ada Barto Parrent. She attended Wilsall schools through High School and then attended Bible School in Chicago, Illinois for two years. She graduated in 1939, returning to Wilsall where she married Pete Hetland. Pete and Jewell ranched in Wilsall, three miles south of town. They had seven children with an 18 year age span. The family moved to Renton, Washington in 1960. She is survived by children Gloria Wilson, Karen Jones, Linda Kaye, Connie Russell, Shirley Parrott and Bob Hetland. Son, Arthur Hetland, passed away in 2008.
Jewell and Pete and their family attended Renton Highlands Community Church.
Jewell was a highly-talented woman and an extremely dedicated Mother. She enjoyed sewing beautiful clothing, gardening, cooking, canning, embroidery, knitting, crocheting and painting. Jewell loved children and was blessed with 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
