We celebrate the life of an icon, a champion conservationist, a loyal protector who held his kin close to heart.
Our dad passed away suddenly this past Saturday, March 28, 2020 - a massive shock and blow to our family. The past few days have been a mix of emotions, with the sting of sadness of losing our dad. He was a great man, a kind soul, a doting father and a loving husband. He may also be known to many of you as a true nature enthusiast. Unfortunately, due to government travel and gathering restrictions, we held a small funeral at our home in Ndurio on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
Nathaniel established his career in wildlife conservation. He became the National Organiser at Wildlife Clubs of Kenya (WCK) where he worked. He was a Chairman for the Eastern African Committee at IUCN and a former Ecologist at the Ministry of Environment Water and Natural Resources. He established and ran an NGO, Eastern Africa Environmental Network (EAEN) in Nairobi, Kenya.
He published several papers on environmental and wildlife conservation in different journals, magazines and books. He founded and published Njiwa Magazine under EAEN. He inspired many and helped them establish their career to become prominent successful individuals today.
We appreciate the concern, prayers and outreach from many of you so far.
If you are so inclined, you may make a donation through this site or via MPesa to Kiprono Chumo at +254717033688. Funds raised will go towards defraying some of the funeral costs and, to contributing towards his other love - the environment - in his honor.
