No-one should go through life without meeting a Nigel. I crossed paths more than 60 years ago at Manchester University with mine, probably over a pint of Watneys Red Barrel in the Union bar. Despite an ocean between us, we met many times since then, when he never failed to dredge up stories of my youthful past I’ve spent decades trying to forget! But one unforgettable highlight was witnessing Nigel being awarded an Honorary Degree by the University of Waterloo (and then celebrating afterwards!). In spite of such recognition, along with numerous awards and accolades throughout his distinguished career, Nigel was always true to himself. He was kind, compassionate, humble, whip smart, and outrageously funny. Thank you, Nigel, for being my friend.
My condolences to Elinor, sons Glynn,Gareth, and Owain, his extended family, and his countless friends.
