Farewell Fr Michael Kelly. The HIV community, the world and your adopted country Zambia has lost someone they will never be able to replace. Not only were you a rare jewel, an angel sent from God to touch and warm the hearts of many who are looked down upon by this oftentimes selfish, cold and cruel world, you were also a priceless gift in my life since I had that that rare opportunity to meet you at your home in 2015 as a PhD student from Zambia studying in the UK. You are one of the greatest humans I have ever met. Your intellect, your sense of justice, your humility, your sense of humour, your charity, your words accompanied by actions to see a fair world that respects the dignity and rights for all... are indeed unmatched! The social justice movement, the world, my country Zambia has lost its truest son. Cry my beloved Zambia, cry the social justice movement, cry the down-trodden. We have all lost a true advocate!! A true brother and friend!! On a personal level, I will miss you so much Fr Michael!! I will miss your love, your work for the common good, I will miss your person, your updates through emails, your encouragements to me, your wisdom, your resilience until death... Fr Michael, "I have learned that people will forget what you have said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how much you made them feel" - Maya Angelou). I will never forget what you said, what you did, and particularly how you made me feel. You were a rare light to this world!!! Farewell Fr. Michael Kelly!
