Safaa Alam, an inspirational and much-loved Midwife at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s, has sadly passed away following treatment for COVID-19. Safaa started her professional career as a nurse, before training as a midwife at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, where she became a valued member of the team. Safaa’s passion for patient safety and risk management enabled her to progress to the specialist role of Risk Management Midwife. Safaa took pride in supporting her colleagues to maintain safety, standards of care and lead improvement of services for our women, babies and families. Safaa was known for her kindness and compassion, and loved by family, friends and colleagues alike.
