Ryan Scott Shepherd passed away in Abilene, Texas on September 10, 2017 at the age of 25. Scott is survived by his parents, Doug and Peggy Shepherd, his sister Alison and her husband Michael McMillion of Plano and his grandmother, “Granny” Ellen Steadman. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Claude Steadman, and grandparents Bob and Pat Shepherd.
Scott was born on November 1, 1991 in Abilene, Texas to the delight of his parents and his big sister, Alison. He was a graduate of Wylie High School and Texas Tech University. Scott loved music, art, nature, his cat (Cohen), and vacations to New York City.
Scott was a talented photographer and his love of nature was evident in his artwork. He was very sentimental and regularly posted old family photos on social media. Scott shared a special bond with his sister that could not go unnoticed and will always be cherished. He was one of the most genuine, tender-hearted, and thoughtful persons you would ever want to meet. He had a unique sense of humor that not only made you laugh, but also made you think. He had a heart for promoting social justice and change, and was passionate about respecting individuality and equality for every person.
Scott left this world too soon and will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him. The family invites all of his family and friends to a visitation on Friday, September 15, from 6-8 pm at Girdner’s Funeral Home at 141 Elm Street. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Elmwood Memorial Park at 5726 US- Hwy 277 in Abilene, TX.
