My sincere condolences to the family and close friends. Tomas passing away is a huge loss. Tomas was an extremely intelligent person and the boldest of thinkers, a great academic and advocate for rational drug policies. He put enormous effort into shaping the media to provide evidence-based information about drugs. He did as much politics as he possibly could to lock science into policy (the way things are done in Eastern Europe). He should be remembered for passing medicinal cannabis laws in the Czech Republic, for reverting prohibition on personal possession of illicit drugs, and for building drug monitoring systems across the globe. He always made sure he was funny at the same time, so people wouldn't stop listening. He loved his family and friends dearly and protected his tribe whenever he could. I am personally indebted to him for giving me outstanding professional opportunities at early stages of my career, and mentoring me throughout. I will keep on remembering him as a ferocious fighter for evidence-based drug policies, the man in black who made the world a better place. Thank you for everything.
