In 2010, under the auspices of Ivan Langer, Tomas put together a parliamentary seminar about medicinal cannabis in the Czech Republic and invited both deputy members and experts from a broad range of related fields. The conclusion of the seminar was that there is enough evidence for cannabis being an effective treatment for selected conditions, that the international law provided a framework for implementing it, and that legislative changes were needed in the Czech Republic. This was a first step in a series of events, among them a petition of experts, advocates and patients in 2011 which called upon inaction in this area. Medicinal cannabis was legalized in 2013 in the Czech Republic, with enormous amount of backstage work from Tomas and others. He continued fighting for the law to be implemented and accessibility of medicinal cannabis to be improved long past these official milestones. Many people were involved in this movement, but it would be fair to say that little to nothing would have happened in this area without him.
