Melvin joined St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College in December 2001 where he taught Psychology and Sociology. He was appointed head of Psychology in 2007 and in 2020 became Head of Social Sciences and New staff Induction Manager.
Melvin was first and foremost an educator in every sense of the word. He was passionate about learning and supporting students, not only to make the most of their potential but also, to develop and grow as individuals. He was fully committed to each and every one of his students.
As a colleague, Melvin was thoughtful and kind as well as being a consummate professional. Over the years he acted as a friend and mentor to many staff and his recent work with staff, new to St. Charles helped him to share his awareness of the practical skills needed to be a good teacher with others in a formal manner.
He worked as a Senior Examiner for both A level Psychology and Criminology. A talented Volleyball player he touched the lives of so many people, with his infectious smile and laughter. To say that Melvin will be missed by the entire St. Charles community, both past and present is an understatement. We were lucky to have him for so long which makes the loss so difficult but he leaves behind a legacy that will live on.
Eternal rest, grant unto him oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace
Amen
With love and prayers for you all at this difficult time
