Mike Jankowski

October 28, 1957 - December 8, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael “Mike” Jankowski, 60, announces his passing on Friday, December 8th, 2017 among his close friends and family. Mike was born on October 28th, 1957 in Buffalo, NY. He was a member of the Air Force from 1977 – 1983, served in the FBI from 1983-1986, before finding his passion as a science teacher in Buffalo Public Schools, where his students adoringly called him “Mr. J”. Mike was always ready for life’s adventure, he enjoyed traveling, skiing, scuba diving and photography. He was a BMW and Formula One enthusiast and kitchen and grill aficionado. Mike’s family and friends will forever miss his caring heart, outgoing personality and his mischievous grin. Mike is survived by his loving partner, Linda; his step-children, Jill (Kyle) Jones, Megan (Corey) Kadish and Nicole Sievert; his sister Kathy (Tom) Graham; his nephews David and John Graham; and his beloved cats, Callie and Sheeba. Mike will always be remembered by his Uncle Roger (Judy) McGill; and Cousins Roger, Kevin and Brian McGill. From his love of science, Mike decided to donate his remains to the University of Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. Please share any fond memories, personal stories and condolences for the family on this site. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held in the spring.

It is with great shock and sadness that I learned of Mike's sudden passing. We worked for many years as fellow chemistry teachers at Hutch Tech. We shared a great love of exploding balloons filled with Hydrogen and Oxygen gases which would thrill our friends and students. And those students greatly appreciated all that Mike did to help them with their studies. My condolences to Mike's family and friends. He will surely be missed.
