Nick Spencer

October 15, 1958 - April 7, 2020

Our great friend and former colleague, Nick Spencer, has sadly passed away. Nick left BP at the end of March, and his death has come as a great shock to us all. We are truly sorry and cannot possibly comprehend the grief that Nick’s partner Eve, and his sons Richard and Robert, are feeling right now. We would like to share your memories, stories and anecdotes of Nick and his time at BP with his family. Nick was a much-loved colleague, and we appreciate your support to help his family through this extremely difficult time.

It was very clear that Nick was passionate about investing in our front line leaders. Nick spent many hours sharing his views on what makes a good operational leader, such as care, trust and really knowing your people. Having clear understanding of the key operational risks is one area that Nick role modelled by example. Nick led several sessions with the cadres on "what was on their mind" and he really did want to know the good and the bad, he ensured it was a safe place for people to be open and honest. Nick has left a legacy of what our expectations are of a good Operational Leader and will benefit leaders long into the future.
