Eve, Robert and Richard - I am so very sorry for your family's loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope you can draw some small comfort from knowing that Nick was loved by so many. I am just one of many in Nick's BP family who are grieving the loss of a dear friend and colleague. I have known Nick for around 10 years, having worked with him in Whiting and then more recently back in the UK. Nick was a huge support to me personally as a sponsor and mentor, particularly as I returned to the UK and I have really appreciated his wisdom and guidance. He clearly made a contribution across BP and had a real desire to make a difference, providing leadership and guidance to many, particularly relative to safety and operational leadership. Nick was also a leader of people and had a passion to see people grow as individuals and as teams. Nick was genuine in his concern for others, generous with his time, humble in listening to inputs from others at any level and gracious in sharing guidance. He did all of this with a remarkable calmness, irrespective of what challenges he was managing - a calmness that built confidence. I saw Nick in March in London - he was calm, smiling, relaxed and we talked about meeting up. This is how I'll remember him. In the midst of this time of deep sadness, I really hope that you and all of us can celebrate Nick and all he meant to us - a wonderful, kind man, a true gentleman. I will miss him. With my prayers for you all. Sam
