Ryan Scott Shepherd passed away in Abilene, Texas on September 10, 2017 at the age of 25. Scott is survived by his parents, Doug and Peggy Shepherd, his sister Alison and her husband Michael McMillion of Plano and his grandmother, “Granny” Ellen Steadman. Scott was born on November 1, 1991 in Abilene, Texas to the delight of his parents and his big sister, Alison. He was a graduate of Wylie High School and Texas Tech University. Scott loved music, art, nature, his cat (Cohen), and vacations to New York City. Scott was a talented photographer and his love of nature was evident in his artwork. He was very sentimental and regularly posted old family photos on social media. Scott shared a special bond with his sister that could not go unnoticed and will always be cherished. He had a heart for promoting social justice and change, and was passionate about respecting individuality and equality for every person. The family invites all of his family and friends to a visitation on Friday, September 15, from 6-8 pm at Girdner’s Funeral Home at 141 Elm Street. I can't begin to explain how incomprehensible this is, but even as I type it feels like I'll see you some day sooner than later. We've shared some unforgettable moments. Your courage to defy social norms, and your brazen ability to be completely open and honest will not be easily found in another. You truly are one of a kind. Good night Scott.
