Noels loss to the Railways in Ireland can’t be underestimated. His experience within NIR was never properly utilised to its potential, because I’m a firm believer that experience trumps all when it comes to the driving of trains. A trick was definitely missed by NIR, because Noel was the most experienced driver, had the most knowledge and sadly now, the opportunity for that to be passed onto the new generation of Train Drivers, has now passed us all by. If the truth be told, Noel should have been one of the original instructor drivers, but now it’s a loss that generations will now miss out on. He was a very timid man, a family orientated man and what you see was what you got with Noel. His legacy at NIR should never be forgotten.
