I was a student on the MSc Environmental Technology (97/98 vintage) and have many happy memories of that time as a perfect blend of the intellectual and the social. Nigel was at the heart of both. I remember him simply as being a very, very ebullient, supportive, and thoughtful mentor to all us students. He seemed always in good humour and ready to give energy and ideas to those around him. One of a kind.
