In loving memory of Constance. She was a beloved daughter, nurturing sister, darling eldest grandchild, wonderful niece, loyal friend. Constance was the perfect daughter, excelling in every area of her life. She was intelligent, obedient, humble, helpful, diligent and responsible. She was her sister's hero, full of wisdom and exemplifying courage and adventure to her beloved sister. Constance always purposefully slowed down to Grandma's walking pace and carried her bags for her. She was the apple of her grandparents' eyes. Constance brought great joy to her uncles and aunts- she was absolutely delightful to be around whether in serious conversations, playful banter, as a travel companion or while playing boardgames and escape rooms. Constance was a pillar of strength for her friends. She was the steady, calm and brave one, always wanting to do the right thing and never settling. Her friends count it a great privilege to have known her. Please share your memories, photos and stories about Constance.

Constance, you will always be remembered for your steadfastness and faithfulness. You embraced the meaning of your name fiercely. Constance, you are so much more than these two traits. I will miss the emails from you championing a change, I will take courage from you and I am going to fight for a change because you inspired me. You gave everything to all your friends, during tests or exams, I’ll always spot you at a table guiding your classmates that need help. You were academically so strong and your friends looked up to you. But you knew when to have fun, I remember our cohort Zoom Bingo, you ran into the library panting to earn that cup of LiHo but you were too late! We laughed so hard, you had to take off your mask and I saw your bright smile. I should have given you that cup of LiHo... Despite your brilliance and diligence, you remained grounded and humble. You took on part time jobs during the school holidays and worked quietly during events shunning the limelight. During Soundproof, you stayed at the back and when your friends were dancing, you were furiously typing away in your laptop. You gave so much quietly. But your presence is anything but quiet. We, the Year 5 cohort will miss you so much. You are a part of us and will always be. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭26‬ ‭NIV

Constance left an impression on so many of us. Even those if us who only crossed paths with her but for a brief moment. I am one of those people. I met Constance about 2 weeks ago on EE Day. She answered a question that the rest of the cohort didnt manage to answer, and she willingly played along with me to share the answer with everyone. I remember us cheering for her, clapping for her, and I remember saying “let’s give it up for Constance!!” We will be cheering and rooting for you, Constance, wherever you are.

There’s much I’ll remember about you, but most vividly that conversation, the one that lasted hours past our curfew, under the safe halo of the bus stop lights. We talked about the world, and our lives, and about how far Yishun is from Siglap. Even through the dark (and corny) jokes, i could tell you were listening, and that you cared. And i know we’ll laugh about those things again someday. I’ll see you at another bus stop, Con. Love and miss you so much.

For Constance: The body remembers Like starfish stuck onto my shoulders Grasping and pulling These memories cling imprint themselves Shadows cross-crossing on the body Whispering and giggling and snorting Remember when? When you mopped the studio floor, fighting anyone who dared to dethrone you as Best Mopper When you declared deadpan “is it because I am Chinese/a woman/ human? When you rattled off all the knowledge of the universe, in a speed that only machines can understand, eager to capture all those thoughts, all the understanding, all the acute observations Weaving yourself and your soul Into a litany of a thousand words The body remembers the pain that shook your shoulders The muscles that pulled and tugged as you pushed through another smile And wet the floor with the tears of another character, weeping for her son Memories drape around shoulders Like a quilt of a thousand stars Each star another brief moment of a twinkle in the eye Of another chortle Another bad joke told just for effect Because bad jokes told seriously earnestly Become good jokes Even with irony My bones remember As I sat on the floor and you mopped a circle around me And gifted me with Mama Lemon Because it cleans well and you clean well and you are Mama. You said. For a fleeting moment, we forgot about it all And laughed till we wet the floor again And you mopped up the forgotten dreams Remembering you and the joy you brought to the lit perf class, Joanne Poon

hey con, our time together has been so short lived. Thank you for accompanying me on all my thursdays while i have chinese tuition, working together with me all the way until fina assembly, being such a funny person, cracking so many jokes during chem and always playing with fengherili. You are honestly such a great leader and I have enjoyed working with you for OGL, lead and other mini initiatives. OH and remember those days in year 1 we would take the train back together after school? I will never forget these moments. You are such an amazing person, acing literally ALL your subjects, making everyone so proud with the work that you produce, and being such an accountable person in general. You are so caring and I can't even explain how much you have made an impact in my life. I will also never forget the times I will just randomly call you "constorns" and you'll reply me with "evangurlin" hehe I hope that you will no longer have any burdens weighted on your shoulders and that you can now be carefree. I'll keep your family in prayer, while you take the time to rest. Love you
